All-rounder Deepak Chahar made his India comeback against Australia in Raipur T20I.

India will be commencing their South Africa tour on Sunday with a T20I game at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. India will be playing a three-match T20I series against South Africa. Team India led by Suryakumar Yadav had an extensive practice session on Friday and Saturday before the T20I series that will begin in Durban. Ravindra Jadeja and Shubman Gill have also joined Indian camp but Deepak Chahar is yet to land in South Africa.

Team India all-rounder Deepak Chahar will not be part of the playing XI in the first T20I game scheduled to be played on Sunday. Chahar is yet to join Indian camp due to personal reasons. Deepak Chahar’s close family member has not been keeping well and he needed a break from the game. Chahar’s family member needed urgent hospitalisation and Indian pace bowler needed to make himself available for his family.

Deepak Chahar not joining the team soon

A BCCI source informed PTI, “Deepak hasn’t yet joined the team in Durban as a close family member needed urgent hospitalisation. He had taken permission for a break as he needed to attend to his family members. He may or may not join the squad depending on his family member’s health in coming days.” Deepak Chahar also missed the final T20I game against Australia played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru due to the same reason.

All-rounder Deepak Chahar is not in a good frame of mind to play cricket and he will only join the squad once his close family member is back to normalcy. Deepak Chahar made his India comeback against Australia at Captain Roop Singh Stadium in Raipur after a year. Chahar was brought in as cover during the five-match T20I series against Australia. Deepak Chahar has so far played 25 T20I games for India and has picked up 31 wickets in his career.

Deepak Chahar dealt with severe injury issues as well in the last two years and missed a major part of his cricket due to injuries. Team India will be playing a three-match T20I series against South Africa starting on Sunday. The second T20I will be played at Port Elizabeth on 12th December. The final game of the series will be played at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on 14th December. After the T20I series, both teams will go on to play ODI and test series.
