The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has warned Indian Premier League (IPL) teams about the rules for the bowlers with suspect bowling action ahead of the mini-auction, on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. These players have been put in the “suspect action” category ahead of the bidding event.

One of the reputed players who has been put in his category is Deepak Hooda. The Rajasthan player, who bowls part-time off-spin, was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last edition of the league and just like last year he is in the suspect action” category for the IPL 2026 auction.

Deepak Hooda, who is listed in the all-rounder category, didn’t bowl a single over in the last edition of the league. But after that, he bowled six overs in the domestic competitions – one over in the Ranji Trophy and five overs in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Abid Mushtaq of Jammu and Kashmir placed in “suspect action” category along with Deepak Hooda

The last time Hooda was seen with the ball in his hand was on December 8 during the game between Rajasthan and Jharkhand, where he took three wickets for 24 runs. But despite that, he remains a suspect and if he comes under the radar again, he will be banned from bowling in the league.

The other player along with Deepak Hooda in the “suspect action” category is Abid Mushtaq of Jammu and Kashmir. The left-arm spinner has set himself a base price of INR 30 lakh. If he too is suspected again, he will be banned from bowling in the league.

Apart from him, Karnataka off-spinner KL Shrijith is among the bowlers who have been banned from bowling in the IPL. Along with him, Rishabh Chauhan of Madhya Pradesh (No. 345 on the auction list) also features on the banned list.
