David Warner-led Delhi Capitals defeated Punjab Kings by 13 runs at Dharamshala.

After continuous disappointment this season, Delhi Capitals have finally managed to ‘thrash’ their opposition in a game. Delhi Capitals have defeated Punjab Kings by 13 runs with a dominating batting performance. Rilee Rossouw (82) along with opener Prithvi Shaw (54) and captain David Warner (46) put Delhi on top with 213 runs on the board. Warner and Shaw added 94 runs for the first wicket. Later on, Rossouw was in full flow in his innings and went on to smash 6 fours and 6 sixes in 37 balls. Chasing a big total, Punjab Kings had a poor start as captain Shikhar Dhawan was out on a golden duck. Prabhsimran Singh (22) and Atharva Taide (55) tried to put PBKS on a chase with their 50 runs stand.

Shikhar feels few of his decisions costed the game

Punjab kept losing wickets at regular intervals, Liam Livingstone scored 94 runs. He could have been a match-winner if only one along with him stayed there at the crease for long. Livingstone smashed 5 fours and 9 sixes in his 48-balls inning. Shikhar Dhawan was frustrated after the loss. He said, “It was frustrating. We didn't bowl really well. In the first overs. We should have taken some wickets with the way the ball was swinging. It’s a close game but we can’t help”. He also praised Livingstone’s knock, Shikhar said, “Livi played a great knock, unfortunately, we could not end up on the other side”. Shikhar also felt that few of his decisions backfired.

David Warner not happy with team's fielding effort

Delhi Capitals captain David Warner was not happy with the team's fielding performance. Delhi missed out on a few opportunities and also their energy was missing. This win could have been bigger than how it is now. Fielding and also some errors in judgment put Delhi in trouble for a bit of time. Delhi skipper David Warner said, “It was a pretty bad fielding performance… We backed our strength, and playing on a nice wicket also helped the team”. Talking about Batting he said, “The impact Prithvi had in the inning was nice to see, Rille Roussouw played well as well”

Rilee Rossouw awarded Player of the Match

South African left-hander, Rilee Rossouw smashed 82 runs in 37 balls to put Delhi over 200 runs mark. Delhi finished on 213 because of Rossouw’s onslaught in the final overs. Talking about his own performance he said, “It was long overdue, I thank the support staff, I am chuffed it did come and came with a win”. He further added that he kept the momentum going after Warner’s wicket. He added, “I enjoyed some momentum coming in”
