Dhruv Jurel earned his maiden India test call-up during the ongoing five-match test series against England.

Young wicket-keeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who has been added to the Indian test squad for the remaining three matches of the ongoing five-match series against England, has now opened up about whom he wants to dedicate his maiden test cap if he makes it into the playing XI for the Rajkot game from February 15.

The uncapped batter Jurel is likely to be picked in the playing XI ahead of India’s regular wicket-keeper KS Bharat, who is having a not so good test series against the Three Lions.

Ahead of his potential debut, the 23-year-old Jurel was seen practicing wicket-keeping and also doing catching drills during the training session on Tuesday. Also, the young batter was seen practicing catching alongside a new slip cordon, which includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rajat Patidar, and Sarfaraz Khan.

In the latest video uploaded on BCCI’s social media handle ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), Dhruv Jurel was seen sharing his heartfelt sentiments, where he expressed his desire to dedicate his potential debut for the Indian cricket team to his father.

If I get the Indian cap, I would like to dedicate this moment to my father. Because he’s my hero. Whenever I just fail to understand something, I just talk to him, and he always guides me,” Dhruv Jurel said.

Earlier on Saturday, February 10, BCCI announced the Indian squad for the remaining three test matches of the ongoing five-match series. However, the hosts suffered a major setback as veteran batter Virat Kohli pulled out of the whole series due to personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Indian batter KL Rahul will also miss the crucial Rajkot test match against Ben Stokes-led England. With the BCCI officials not providing any update on Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness, it is still doubtful whether he will play or not.

With Shreyas Iyer also not getting picked for the remaining three test matches, India will go into the third game with an unfamiliar middle-order.

The high-voltage third test will commence on February 15 in Rajkot, while the fourth game will be played in Ranchi from February 23. The fifth and final game of the series will kick off in Dharamsala on March 7.

The series is leveled 1-1, with England winning the Hyderabad test and India bouncing back in the Vizag game.

India’s updated squad for the third test:

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Devdutt Padikkal.
