Ravindra Jadeja picked up 2 wickets in his first over of IPL 2026 against CSK.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) emerged victorious against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their first clash of the season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Batting first, the CSK lost quick wickets, courtesy great bowling in powerplay from Nandre Burger and Jofra Archer. The wickets kept falling, and CSK managed to post a total of only 127 runs.

The RR chased the target comfortably in 12.1 overs, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring 52 runs off just 17 balls. However, the story of the day was the return of Ravindra Jadeja to the Royals. He picked up a wicket on his second ball against his former franchise and went on to dismiss both Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube in a single over.

After dismissing Dube, he celebrated with a gun-firing gesture. The Royals had acquired Jadeja in a trade from CSK, sending Sanju Samson the other way. The trade was emotional for both fanbases and the players involved, as they had represented their franchises for over a decade. After the match, Jadeja reflected on his emotions and the experience of rejoining the Royals.

Ravindra Jadeja opened up about his emotions on rejoining the Rajasthan Royals. After India’s victory in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2008, Jadeja joined the Royals in 2008 and went on to win the title in the very first season. He later moved to the CSK in 2012 and remained with them until 2025, barring two season when the franchise was banned.

After being traded back to his former team, Jadeja admitted that it was an emotional transition. Speaking to Jiostar, he said:

“At first, it was a little difficult because I had played for CSK for around 12–13 years, so it was naturally an emotional time. But then I thought that this too is a part of the journey. And the good thing is that I am going back to the team with which I won my first IPL title.”

He further added, “So for me, those memories were always special, after the Under-19 phase, that was where I began my IPL journey, and in my very first year, we won the IPL title. That memory has always stayed with me.”

“With those memories and a positive mindset, I felt good about going there. I knew I would get to learn new things with a new group, and I would also be able to share my experience with the people there,” Jadeja concluded.

Jadeja had a great start to their new journey in IPL. He will be next seen in action when RR will take on Gujarat Titans on April 4.
