Dinesh Karthik leaves out MS Dhoni as he names his all-time India XI across formats

Dinesh Karthik picked only two fast bowlers in his all-time India XI across formats.
Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik on Thursday, 15th August, named his all-time India playing XI across formats. Interestingly, the wicket-keeper batter Karthik didn’t pick legendary cricketer MS Dhoni, who won three ICC white-ball titles as Indian captain.
After the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 edition, Karthik announced his retirement from international cricket. The 39-year-old played 180 matches across formats and scored 3463 runs for the Indian cricket team.
On August 6, 2024, South Africa T20 League (SA20) franchise Paarl Royals signed former Indian cricketer Karthik for the upcoming tournament. The development was confirmed on Paarl Royals ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle.
Dinesh Karthik picks Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in his all-time India playing XI
On India’s 78th Independence day, 15th August 2024, Dinesh Karthik revealed his all-time India playing XI across formats in a video posted by Cricbuzz on Youtube. Karthik picked five batters, two all-rounders, two spinners, and two pacers in the playing XI.
Karthik started with picking Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma as the two openers. Karthik then included legendary cricketers Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar at No. 3 and No. 4 positions.
Karthik placed modern-day chase master Virat Kohli at No. 5. Karthik picked Yuvraj Singh and Ravindra Jadeja as two all-rounders of the side next.
In the spin bowling department, the wicket-keeper batter Karthik chose Ravichandran Ashwin and Anil Kumble.
Karthik then included speedsters Jasprit Bumrah and Zaheer Khan as the two fast bowling options. Additionally, Karthik named off-spinner Harbhajan Singh as the 12th man.
