IND vs WI: Major update on India's playing 11 ahead of must win match in T20 World Cup 2026

India defeated the West Indies to secure their place in the semi-final.

India will face England in the semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026. The IND vs ENG clash will take place on March 5 (Thursday) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Interestingly, both teams also clashed in the semi-finals of the previous two T20 World Cups. Jos Buttler-led England crushed India by 10 wickets in the 2022 edition. After that, under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, the Men-in-Blue outplayed the Three Lions by 68 runs in the previous edition in 2024.

Notably, the Men-in-Blue made a fabulous comeback in the Super 8 round to book a berth in the semi-final. The Suryakumar Yadav & Co. suffered a setback after losing the opening game against South Africa by 76 runs. However, they bounced back with back-to-back victories against Zimbabwe and the West Indies to seal a spot in the semis.

The clash against the West Indies was a must-win game, and the Indian team executed their job well to chase down a challenging 196-run target. Now, they need to replicate their heroics against England to confirm their spot in the summit clash.

The Harry Brook & Co. were unbeaten in the Super 8 round, winning all three matches against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand. India cannot take them lightly and need to play their best and in-form players against them.

Due to players’ poor form and pitch conditions, Suryakumar Yadav & Co. have tried various combinations in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup semi-final. However, they should stick to their current playing XI and not make any changes against England.

Notably, this combination has done wonders in the previous two games. In the match against Zimbabwe, the defending champions posted a 250-plus total batting first.

On the other hand, against the West Indies, they chased down a mammoth 196-run total by 5 wickets. Also, bowlers executed their responsibilities well in both games and showed brilliant teamwork.

India’s playing XI against Zimbabwe & West Indies:

Sanju Samson (WK), Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah.

When will the IND vs ENG semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026 take place?

The encounter will take place on March 5 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
