India leveled the five-match ENG vs IND test series 1-1 after registering a win in the second game.

The second test between England Cricket Team Indian Cricket Team concluded on Sunday, July 6. The encounter took place at Edgbaston, Birmingham. England had a gigantic target of 608 runs in the second innings, however, they were bowled out for 271 runs. Akash Deep captured a six-wicket haul in the second innings to power India to victory by 336 runs.

Earlier on day 1, England won the toss and opted to bowl first. India posted a gigantic total of 587/10 in the first innings with an impeccable double century by Shubman Gill (269). Yashasvi Jaiswal (87) and Ravindra Jadeja (89) slammed crucial half-centuries.

With Mohammed Siraj’s six wickets and Akash Deep’s four scalps, India bundled England for 407/10 in the first innings, earning a 180-run lead. Harry Brook and Jamie Smith hammered tons for England.

In the second innings, Gill returned with another century. With his 161 runs, the Indian skipper helped the team to reach 427/6 before declaring the innings, setting a mammoth target of 608 runs for the hosts. After victory in the second test, India have levelled the five-match series 1-0.

After the second test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, India and England will travel to London for the third test at the Lord’s. The encounter will commence on July 10.

With his double century and century in the Edgbaston test, Shubman Gill has become the highest run-scorer in the ENG vs IND five-match test series. Jamie Smith, who slammed a ton in the first innings, occupies the second spot with 356 runs. Rishabh Pant (342) and Harry Brook (280) hold the third and fourth spots respectively. KL Rahul and Ben Duckett with 236 runs share the fifth spot.
