The third ENG vs IND test will be played at the Lord’s from Thursday, July 10.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Wednesday, 9th July announced England’s playing XI for the third test of the five-match series against India for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The third match of the series at the Lord’s will be played from Thursday, July 10.

The announcement saw Jofra Archer back into the test playing XI after a long gap of four years. Archer, who replaced Josh Tongue in the playing XI, made his last test appearance against the same opposition in an away game in February 2021. Apart from Archer’s inclusion, England didn’t make any other change to their line-up from the last two games.

Moreover, Gus Atkinson, who made his return to the squad after recovering from hamstring injury, couldn’t find a place in the XI.

Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (C), Jamie Smith (Wk), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir.

Notably, Jofra Archer was included in England’s squad for the second test at Edgbaston, Birmingham as well, but he didn’t get a spot in the playing XI.

Meanwhile, India are yet to name their playing XI for the Lord’s test. It is most likely that they will name the XI at the toss, like in the first two tests of the series. However, Indian captain Shubman Gill has already confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will be back in the Lord’s test after being rested for the Edgbaston game.

He is highly likely to replace Prasidh Krishna in the playing XI as the latter has emerged too expensive in the first two games.

The five-match test series between England and India is currently tied 1-1. After losing the opening game, Shubman Gill & Co. made a brilliant comeback in the second test at Edgbaston. They set a huge target of 608 runs for England in the second innings. With Akash Deep’s six-wicket haul, India bundled out the hosts for 271 runs in the final innings to win the encounter by 336 runs.

Notably, India have defeated England in three tests out of 19 matches at the Lord’s in the past. England have won 12 games at the venue, while four ended in draws.
