Harry Brook lavished praise on Joe Root ahead of the Manchester test.
England white-ball skipper Harry Brook heaped praise on teammate Joe Root ahead of the fourth test against India. The fourth test between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team will be played at Old Trafford, Manchester. The encounter will begin on Wednesday, July 23.
Notably, Root is the all-time highest run-scorer for England in test cricket. After hitting a hundred in the third test against India at the Lord’s, Root displaced Brook at the top of ICC test batting rankings. Both Brook and Root have shown wonderful form in the test series against India.
Brook has so far scored 314 runs across six innings at an average of 52.33, smacking one century and one half-century. Meanwhile, Root has mustered 253 runs in three games at an average of 50.70. He has also hammered one ton and one fifty.

Ahead of the Manchester test, Brook hailed Root and termed him the best test batter of all time.
“Everybody wants to be number one, don’t they? Him (Root), probably more than anybody else. He’s a phenomenal player, I’m not in the same league as him. I’ll happily let him have it. He’s played for 12-13 years. In my opinion, he is the best Test batter of all time. So, I’ll let him have that,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.
Meanwhile, England lead the five-match series 2-1. They need one more victory to seal the series. England have already announced their playing XI for the Manchester test. Spinner Liam Dawson has made a comeback to the test playing XI after eight years.
India need to win the Manchester test to keep their hopes of series victory alive. However, India have never defeated England in a test match in Manchester in the past. The visitors will be without their all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been ruled out of remainder of the series with knee injury.
