England won the Lord’s test and went 2-1 up in the ENG vs IND five-match series.
The Long Room in the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London is full of history and elegance, and every member present there stood up to give the Indian and England players a standing ovation after the hosts narrowly won by 22 runs on July 14, 2025.
Tight bowling and increasing pressure made it a low-scoring, tense match. On a wicket that was deteriorating, England’s second innings score of 192 proved to be the game-deciding. Both teams scored 387 in the first innings.
Joe Root and KL Rahul had hit centuries for their respective teams in the first innings, while Jamie Smith, Brydon Carse, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja scored half-centuries.
In the second innings, Washington Sundar ran through the England middle order with 4/22, while Joe Root and Ben Stokes powered England to 192 runs.

India, chasing 193, were bowled for 170 following a spirited resistance led by Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder remained unbeaten on 61*, almost completing a remarkable victory. After KL Rahul departed at 81/6 as the last recognised batter, Jadeja held on with the tail, bringing India agonizingly close.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj provided tenacious assistance, but England’s bowlers finished things off with quick pace and control. Rahul scored a valiant 39, and Rishabh Pant added nine despite a finger injury before succumbing to Archer.
Ben Stokes won Player of the Match for his all-around show, and England went 2-1 up in the five-match series.
The Lord’s Long Room audience paid well-deserved respect and applauded players of both sides as they walked back to the dressing room.
