Rishabh Pant slammed an unbeaten half-century on day one of the Headingley test.
The Indian Cricket Team commenced their tour of England for Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 on Friday, June 20 with the first test at Headingley. Rishabh Pant, who has been appointed as the new test vice-captain of India, scored a brilliant half-century on day one of the encounter.
After England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to field first, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed a marvellous century, hitting 101 runs off 159 deliveries. He was joined by Shubman Gill later, who scored his sixth century in tests, and remained unbeaten on the crease at 127 at the stumps of day one.
Gill also became the fifth Indian batter to smack a ton on test captaincy debut. Pant, who came out to bat at five, gave good support to Gill at the other end. With the help of four boundaries and two sixes, the left-handed batsman remained unbeaten at 65 runs off 102 deliveries at the end of the day’s play.
