Shubman Gill broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record for most runs by an Indian captain in a bilateral test series.
Indian skipper Shubman Gill has broken Sunil Gavaskar’s 46-year-old record during the ongoing fifth test against England, which is underway at The Oval, London. England, led by Ollie Pope in the match, won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Coming into the game, both sides made four changes each to their playing XI. For India, Karun Nair, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel, and Akash Deep replaced Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Anshul Kamboj
In the first session on day one, India lost two wickets quickly in Yashasvi Jaiswal (2) and KL Rahul (14) and were left reeling at 38 for two. However, after that skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan looked good, but rain forced the umpires to take an early lunch.
