England will face India in match No. 29 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in Lucknow.

England entered the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as the defending champions and one of the favourites to win the game, but what has happened so far has made many think that are they the same team that have dominated in white-ball cricket. England have lost four games in five matches and are on the verge of elimination.

They have four games left, and if they can somehow win all four matches, they can have some hope. For that, they will have to beat India on Sunday at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow in their next game, which looks a bit difficult given the way India are performing. But England will back them up to put on a great show and fight. Here we will talk about the predicted playing XI for England against India.

IND vs ENG: England's Predicted playing XI vs India, match 29

1. Jonny Bairstow :

Jonny Bairstow has been one of the best opening batters in the world in white-ball cricket, but he hasn't performed well in this tournament. Bairstow has scored 127 runs at 25.07, which is not as per his standards. But with nothing much left to lose, we might see Bairstow taking the responsibility and giving the team a good start against India.

2. Dawid Malan :

Dawid Malan has been among the runs, but not many batters have supported him. The left-hander has scored 220 runs so far at an average of 44. Malan is a very technically strong batter, and it becomes hard to get him out when he gets set. That is what he will be looking for against India. He has good numbers against India, and his good start will be important for England.

3. Joe Root :

Joe Root has been the most important batter in English batting line-up. It is because he is the one who takes the innings long and sets a good platform for the other power-hitters. Root has scored 175 runs at an average of 35, but a big innings is dew from him. And he has also liked performing against Indians across formats, and team India should be worried about that.

4. Ben Stokes :

Ben Stokes played in the last two games, but his return hasn't helped England much. Stokes was the top- scorer in the last game against Sri Lanka and scored a fighting 43, but he hasn't made an impact for what he is known for. But India will not write him off because he has always been a big-match player.

5. Jos Buttler (c & wk) :

English captain has been the biggest disappointment in this tournament so far. Buttler has looked off-colour and has scored only 95 runs at a below-par average of 19, which is just not as per his standards. Buttler has been one of the biggest names in white-ball cricket. He has scored tons of runs in India, and he will be expecting to deliver an impactful performance to take his team home with a win.

6. Harry Brook :

Harry Brook was replaced by Liam Livingstone in the last game, but that move didn't work. Thus, Brook is expected to come back to the team. Brook has done a decent job so far and has scored 128 runs at an average and strike rate of 32.00 and 109.40 so far. With batting not clicking, England will look to bring him in, which will give the team some strength.

7. Moeen Ali :

Moeen Ali hasn't had many chances in this tournament and has played only two games. But with the pitch offering some turn, Moeen can be a good second spin-bowling option for England. Adding to that, he can bat at any position in the order, which makes the batting order strong. The all-rounder has performed well against India and can make an impact in Lucknow.

8. Chris Woakes :

Chris Woakes is England's premium pacer, but his form has been horrible so far. He has taken two wickets in four games at an economy rate of 6.87, which is what England have lacked. But with his experience, he is expected to bounce back well in the game against India and provide some early breakthroughs that can put India under pressure.

9. David Willey :

Just like Moeen, David Willey has also played only two games so far. But he is a pretty useful all-rounder who can contribute in both departments of the game. Willey can swing the ball into the right-hander, which has been a problem for Indian top order over the years, and if he can dismiss one or two batters early, England will be on top.

10. Adil Rashid :

Adil Rashid is the specialist spinner in this team who has done a decent job when other bowlers have struggled a lot. Rashid has taken six wickets at an economy rate of 5.54 and has given the team good breakthroughs in the middle. Indian batters have found him hard to pick, which might be in the minds of the hosts for Sunday.

11. Mark Wood :

Lucknow is the home ground for Mark Wood in IPL. He plays for Lucknow Super Giants and has played well, including a fifer in the last season. He can extract extra bounce, and his pace can be a deadly combination. It will be an exciting battle to watch between him and the Indian top order.
