Jos Buttler-led England will tour India before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
England have announced their squads for the white-ball tour of India and the ICC Champions Trophy (CT) 2025. The 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup winners have maintained a healthy mix of experience and emerging talent.
The announcement includes the return of star batsman Joe Root to the ODI side for the first time since the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, the “Three Lions” will be without Ben Stokes, who is sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained during the test series against New Zealand.
Jos Buttler retained the leadership of both white-ball squads despite England’s consecutive defeats in ICC tournaments – ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
The squad consists of some exciting talents including Jacob Bethell and Rehan Ahmed, who have been impressive in the domestic circuit.
The India tour will begin with five T20Is in January followed by a three-match ODI series in February. On the other hand, the schedule of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is yet to be finalized.
Notably, England’s white-ball tour of India will be Brendon McCullum’s first assignment as white-ball coach of the side.
