England will kick off their home season with one-off test against Zimbabwe.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Friday, May 2, announced England Cricket Team’s squad for the forthcoming one-off test match against Zimbabwe Cricket Team. The England vs Zimbabwe test match is scheduled to be played at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Ben Stokes is set to lead the hosts in the clash.

Notably, the Zimbabwe tour of England 2025 will only witness a single test match. No T20Is or ODIs will be played between both the sides during the tour. The test encounter will begin on May 22, Thursday. Interestingly, both sides last played a test series in 2003. Hence, they will face each other in the longest format after a gap of 22 years.

England whitewashed Zimbabwe in that series by winning both encounters. Overall, England and Zimbabwe have faced each other in six test matches. Out of these, the Englishmen won three games while three ended in a draw. This will be the fourth test series between both the sides.

England have named 13 players in their squad for the home test match and Ben Stokes has returned to lead the side. Key batter Harry Brook, who is also the new ODI and T20I skipper of England, is also part of the squad. Test specialist Joe Root is another member of the side. Two uncapped players Sam Cook and Jordan Cox have made a cut to the 13-member side.
