Former England captain Eoin Morgan was upset with the team management for sending Assistant coach to face media.

England cricket team had an awful title defence campaign in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. England have managed to win only one game so far in their campaign, and they are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with just two points in seven league games. England are taking on Netherlands with their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 qualification on the line. England may not qualify for the semi-finals, but they need big wins to secure their place in the Champions Trophy.

England dominated the previous edition played in their backyard and came out with their historic first-ever World Cup title. Eoin Morgan was the leader who earned big praise from around the world to turn around England’s limited future. Eoin Morgan has now made a big statement regarding the current England camp struggling to find their feet in the mega event. The former English skipper has called England team a sinking ship and asked for more accountability.

England a 'sinking ship' says Eoin Morgan

The former England skipper has said that currently, it looks like everyone is shirking from their responsibilities. Morgan said, “In certain instances, you could look at it and say, ‘Are they shirking responsibilities?’ At the moment, it is a sinking ship, and you need people to take responsibility for their actions.” Morgan was miffed with team management’s decision to send assistant coach Carl Hopkins in front of the media after their sixth loss in the World Cup campaign.

Eoin Morgan further added, “It surprised me to see Hopkins rolled out. If it was Ben Stokes, Joe Root, a senior voice in the changing room, you would say right, this is how the messaging is going to work. You very rarely would send out an assistant coach to give a strong message when the team needs it.” Eoin Morgan was unhappy with English captain Jos Buttler and coach Mathew Mott not taking responsibility for their actions when the teams needed it the most.
