EXPLAINED: What will happen if IPL 2023 final between CSK vs GT gets washed out due to rain

Rain has spoiled the party for fans in the IPL 2023 final in Ahmedabad.
There's excitement and also rain clouds around the city of Ahmedabad. Fans are eagerly waiting to know, will it be Chennai Super Kings lifting the IPL title for 5th time equaling Mumbai Indians or will it be Gujarat Titans repeating the IPL 2022 and winning their second consecutive title in the first two seasons. Both Gujarat and Chennai had a great campaign so far to feature in the top 2 in the points table first and then play in the IPL 2023 Final. But there’s a twist in the tale as Rain lashes out in the major western part of India. Fans will be wondering what will happen when it's a washout in the big final.
What happened in case of a Washout on IPL 2023 Final?
The cut-off time to start a full 20-over game on Sunday is 9:35 PM, so the match could go as long as 1:20 AM to finish. While for a 5-over shootout, the deadline to start is 11:56 PM. If we didn’t see a start of the game around that time, the IPL final will move to reserve day on Monday, 29th May. If rain doesn’t allow the game on Monday as well, then the super-over will come into play. In case of no action on the field, Gujarat Titans will be awarded the title as they finished top of the table with 10 wins and 20 points in their 14 league games. CSK were 2nd in the table with 17 points and 8 wins. CSK already had a washout against Lucknow Super Gianst at Ekana Stadium.
Qualifier two game between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians also had a rain delay at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. The game began around 8 PM with no overs lost. Both teams will be looking to get on the field and fight for the title. Chennai Super Kings will be featured in their 10th IPL final out of 14 seasons they featured in. Gujarat Titans have successfully carried their IPL 2022 form this season as well. Titans made their debut in the previous season and became champions, they are looking to create a new history on Sunday.
