SA20 2024: Paarl Royals all-rounder Fabian Allen robbed at gunpoint in Johannesburg

Fabian Allen is part of Paarl Royals squad in the ongoing SA20 2024.

West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen, who is currently taking part in the SA20 2024 for Paarl Royals, is shaken after a horrible incident that took place in the South African city of Johannesburg. He was robbed at gunpoint on the sidelines of the SA20 league. West Indies Cricket has also established contact with the all-rounder after the robbery incident took place in Johannesburg.

Paarl Royals have qualified for the SA20 2024 playoffs and they will be taking on Joburg Super Kings in the Eliminator game of the SA20 2024 at Wanderers, Johannesburg. Fabian Allen along with his team Paarl Royals is currently in Johannesburg. The Eliminator game between Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings will be played on 7th February, Wednesday. Fabian Allen has made a decent contribution to Paarl Royals’ campaign in the SA20 2024 so far.

According to a news reports from Cricbuzz, an assailant armed with gun confronted Fabian Allen near the Sandton Sun Hotel in Johannesburg. Assailant took away Allen’s phone and personal belongings which included a bag as well. West Indies Cricket sources have confirmed that Allen is unharmed following the incident.

As quoted by Cricbuzz, A CWI official informed, “Our head coach Andre Coley, also hailing from Jamaica, reached out to Fabian. Contact was successfully established through Obed McCoy (another West Indies international). He is fine. CSA (Cricket South Africa) and his team, Paarl Royals, could share more details if there are any.”

Paarl Royals management has not responded yet on the developments. Fabian Allen also has not commented about the incident yet. A robbery on the sidelines of a prestigious T20 league in the world will raise concerns about the security of players. It is also reported this was the second security related episode in the league in recent times.
