A tweet from fake account impersonating Virat Kohli went viral before Pakistan vs Netherlands.

Pakistan team got a warm welcome at Hyderabad airport when they landed in India after 7 years. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam also expressed that his team was overwhelmed by the welcome they got in India. Pakistan played two of their warm-up games in Hyderabad and also opened their World Cup campaign against Netherlands in Hyderabad. Pakistan will be traveling to different parts of India in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign.

As Pakistan commenced their World Cup campaign, a fake tweet went viral impersonating Virat Kohli. A tweet was posted by a miscreant impersonating former Indian captain Virat Kohli inviting Pakistan team for a party at home, especially for Shadab Khan. India and Pakistan both share mutual respect in the field of cricket and have shared light moments during their previous meetings at ICC or ACC events.

A fake account impersonating Virat Kohli

The tweet that went viral was done from the username @amiVkohli and stated, “I warmly welcome the Pakistan Cricket Team on their arrival in my country after a long period of 7 years. I will host a party for my friends, especially Shadab, at my house. I love you all; always spread love and joy.”

This is a fake username to create a lookalike account for Virat Kohli. The original username of Virat Kohli’s Twitter account is @Iamvkohli. The fake account also used the same display picture as well. Virat Kohli's authentic twitter username reads 'imVkohli'.

India and Pakistan will be meeting on October 14 at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad for a blockbuster World Cup clash between the two neighbors. This will be their eighth meeting in the ODI World Cup event. So far, India have dominated men in green by winning all seven of their previous encounters on the world stage. Pakistan still await their maiden 50-overs World Cup win against India.

India played Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023 and thrashed them by a huge margin of 228 runs in Colombo. Pakistan have begun their World Cup campaign against Netherlands in Hyderabad. Netherlands, after a spirited bowling performance, restricted Pakistan to 286 runs. Mohammad Rizwan (68) and Saud Shakeel (68) were the top-scorers for men in green. Netherlands require 287 runs to upset Pakistan.
