Joe Root scored his 37th century in test cricket.
The England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team are locking horns in the third game of the five-match series at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. After opting to bat first, Joe Root oozed his class and hammered a century in the first session of day two.
Root slammed his 37th century in tests and equalled Australia batter Steve Smith’s record of most centuries (11) against India in tests. With his ton, Root also overtook Rahul Dravid in the list of batsmen with most centuries in test cricket. Root reached his century off 192 deliveries. Soon after scoring his ton, he was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah on 104.

Earlier in the innings, Root became the first batsman to score 3000 runs against India in test cricket. This was his first century in the ongoing test series. In the previous innings, he registered scores of 28, 53*, 22, and 6.
Meanwhile, India have shown a brilliant bowling performance in the second test against England. During the first session on day two, they picked three wickets in a flash to put the hosts under pressure.
Bumrah has grabbed a four-wicket haul so far, including the first three wickets of Root, Ben Stokes, and Chris Woakes on day two. Nitish Kumar Reddy has scalped two wickets while Ravindra Jadeja has clinched one wicket. The test series is tied 1-1 after two matches.
