Fans react to Ajinkya Rahane's flop show against WI in 1st innings of Dominica test

India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane managed to score just 3 runs in the first innings.

Ajinkya Rahane had a disappointing return to the role of vice-captain in the first innings of the opening Test match against the West Indies. Rahane, batting at No. 5, came to the crease after the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had an impressive debut scoring 171 runs.

However, Rahane's time at the crease was short-lived as he faced just 11 balls and scored just 3 runs before getting dismissed by Kemar Roach. Rahane mistimed a delivery of good length, resulting in a chip straight into the hands of Jermaine Blackwood, who was positioned at covers. Consequently, Rahane had to depart the field after contributing only 3 runs to the team's total.

After making his comeback to Test cricket in the World Test Championship Final 2023, Rahane was appointed as the vice-captain. He showcased his talent during the final against Australia in England, where he scored impressive innings of 89 and 46 runs in the two matches, establishing himself as India's top-performing batter during that series.

His notable performances caught the attention of the selectors, and he was subsequently called up to the Indian team for the World Test Championship Final 2023. Ajinkya Rahane was brought back into the Indian line-up due to the absence of several middle-order batters who were sidelined with injuries, namely Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul.
