Jofra Archer is set to make a comeback in test cricket after four years. The fast bowler has been included in the England squad for the forthcoming second test against India. The hosts announced their squad for the second test on Thursday, June 26.
Notably, Archer last played a test match in February 2021 against India. The right-arm pacer could not return to the field for a long time due to multiple injuries. Earlier this year, he was part of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for the Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Archer was expected to be part of the opening test against India as he was named in the England Lions squad for the unofficial test series against India A, which served as preparation for the majority of players of both teams for the ENG vs IND series.
However, he was ruled out of the unofficial test series due to a thumb injury, and the excitement of fans to see him in the England whites at Headingley, Leeds, was spoiled. But, he proved his fitness by playing domestic cricket for Sussex in England’s County Championship 2025.
