Twitter reacts as fans struggle to buy India tickets for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tickets sale started on 25 August.
The excitement surrounding the commencement of ticket sales for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 turned sour as technical glitches marred the experience for eager fans. The sale, which had been anticipated with bated breath, kicked off on Friday but quickly descended into a frustrating ordeal. For a considerable span of 35 to 40 minutes, the official website failed to operate, leaving fans unable to secure their desired tickets.
The initial day of ticket sales was exclusively designated for non-India matches, including the highly anticipated warm-up games. Unfortunately, the launch at 8 p.m. local time was swiftly followed by reports of the ‘Bookmyshow’ application crashing, sparking chaos among fans eagerly vying to book their seats.
‘Bookmyshow’ official partner for selling World Cup tickets
Playing a pivotal role as the ticketing partner for the upcoming World Cup, ‘Bookmyshow’ holds the responsibility of ensuring a smooth ticketing experience for fans before the tournament’s commencement on October 5.
The International Cricket Council (ICC), in collaboration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), established a partnership with Mastercard. Under this collaboration, a predetermined number of ODI World Cup tickets, specifically for India’s matches, were slated for release on August 29, exclusively for Mastercard holders.
After the initial dilemma, BookMyShow finally managed to get control of the situation, but not for very long. Fans were made to wait in line, where the timer kept on increasing, and once again, it disappointed the people waiting to buy tickets for respective matches. Meanwhile, only a certain section of the tickets were slated to get sold on August 29, and even so, BookMyShow has faced difficulty.
However, BookMyShow, entrusted with the responsibility of being the official ticketing partner of BCCI, fell short of meeting this target. The disappointment voiced by numerous fans on various social media platforms underscores this misstep.
