Fans hilariously troll Babar Azam as he flops against Netherlands in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023
Pakistan captain Babar Azam got out on just 5 runs against Netherlands.
Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium is witnessing a spirited Dutch performance in the second clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Netherlands bowled brilliantly to put Pakistan under pressure in their opening game. Pakistani top-order failed miserably against an inexperienced Netherlands bowling attack, as they lost their first three inside 10 overs. Netherlands captain Scott Edwards won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first in Hyderabad.
Fakhar Zaman (12), Imam-ul-Haq (15), and captain Babar Azam (5) all got out cheaply in the first power-play. Babar Azam was expected to play a big role, as he had done a brilliant job in the warm-up round. Fans on social media have started cracking jokes and memes about Babar Azam’s performance. Pakistani fans are also in shock after their top-order batters failed miserably in their World Cup opener. Captain Babar Azam was dismissed by off-spinner Colin Ackermann.
Here's how twitter reacted to Babar Azam's flop show:
Babar struggled against Netherlands.
Babar Azam was struggling miserably against Dutch off-spinners. At first, Aryan Dutt troubled Pakistan skipper with his tight line, and then Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards brought in Colin Ackerman as their surprise package. Ackerman kept a fielder in a catching position at mid-wicket. Ackerman shortened his length after bowling full and drawing him forward. Babar looked to play a pull shot, but he was completely out of place to connect.
Pakistan captain struggle went on till 18 balls, and he finally moved out after he was caught by Saqib Zulfiqar. Logan van Beek dismissed Fakhar Zaman early in the innings. Fakhar scored 12 runs in 15 balls. Paul van Meekeren dismissed Imam-ul Haq for just 15 runs. Haq tried to play a big pull shot against Van Meekeren, but he couldn’t get the connection properly and was caught at the fine leg by Aryan Dutt. Pakistan were 3 down in 38 in just 9 overs.
Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel have brought Pakistan innings back on track with a crucial 4th wicket partnership. Rizwan and Shakeel have applied the counter-attacking approach against Netherlands after the first power-play. Netherlands bowlers did a magnificent job of containing Pakistan batters, but they need more wickets to keep themselves in the game. Rizwan and Shakeel have taken Pakistan’s score above 100 in 20 overs.
