In this article, we will talk about the top five fastest centuries in the history of the BBL. Interestingly, the joint-fastest BBL century came in the final of 2024-25 edition.

5. Luke Wright (44 balls) vs Hobart Hurricanes, 2012

Former English all-rounder Luke Wright holds the record for the fifth-fastest BBL ton. He slammed it for Melbourne Stars in a match against Hobart Hurricanes in 2011-12 season.

Opening the innings, Wright slammed a 44-ball century and made 117 runs off 60 balls, with eight fours and nine sixes. He won Player of the Match award for his century and helped the Stars beat the Hurricanes by 19 runs.

4. Josh Brown (41 Balls) vs Adelaide Strikers, 2024

Scoring a century in a knockout game is always special. That’s what Brisbane Heat’s Josh Brown did in the 2023-24 edition during the Challenger game against Adelaide Strikers.

He slammed a 41-ball century and made 140 runs off just 57 balls, with 10 fours and 12 sixes, and registered the third highest individual score in the BBL. He helped Brisbane Heat win the game by 54 runs and qualify for the finals.

3. Glenn Maxwell (41 Balls) vs Hobart Hurricanes, 2022

Glenn Maxwell holds the record for the highest individual score in the BBL. He slammed an unbeaten 154 off 64 runs against Hobart Hurricanes, representing Melbourne Stars at the MCG. In his knock, he tore apart the Hurricanes’ bowling line and slammed a 41-ball ton.

Maxwell’s innings helped the Stars reach 273/2 in 20 overs, which is the highest team total in the BBL history. The Hurricanes made 167/6 in reply and lost the game by 106 runs.

2. Mitchell Owen (39 Balls) vs Sydney Thunder, 2025

Hobart Hurricanes’ Mitchell Owen played an innings of a lifetime in the BBL 2024-25 final against Sydney Thunder to help his side win their maiden BBL title. Chasing the target of 183, Owen attacked from the very first over and reached his century off just 39 balls, registering the joint-fastest BBL ton.

He scored 108 off 42 balls, with six fours and 11 sixes. His innings helped the Hurricanes reach 185/3 in just 14.1 overs and lift the trophy. With that, Mitchell Owen also registered his name in the record books.

1. Craig Simmons (39 Balls) vs Adelaide Strikers, 2014

Not many would be aware of Craig Simmons, but he holds the record for the joint-fastest century in the BBL. He slammed a 39-ball century while playing for Perth Scorchers against Adelaide Strikers during the 2013-14 edition.

It was a high-scoring clash; Simmons made 102 runs off 41 balls, with eight fours and eight sixes, and the Scorchers made 203/7 and restricted the Strikers to 198/6 to win the game by five runs. Simmons won Player of the Match award for his tremendous century.
