Vijay Hazare Trophy is India’s annual domestic 50-over competition.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) is India’s premier 50-over cricket tournament. Named after legendary Indian cricketer Vijay Hazare, the competition was originally known as the Ranji One Day Trophy before being renamed in honour of Vijay Hazare.

The competition aims at nurturing Indian players in the 50-over format. Over the years, many superstar Indian batters have participated in the competition and have registered remarkable centuries for their teams.

In this article, we will take a look at the top four fastest centuries in Vijay Hazare Trophy history.

4. Abhishek Sharma – 42 balls vs Madhya Pradesh

Young Punjab opener Abhishek Sharma whacked a hundred off just 42 balls against Madhya Pradesh in 2021 in Indore.

Chasing a mammoth target of 403 runs, Abhishek began Punjab’s innings in an excellent manner. The youngster brought up his century in just 42 balls and went on to score 104 runs off 49 balls, including eight fours and nine sixes.

Despite his heroics, Punjab lost the game by a margin of 105 runs.

3. Urvil Patel – 41 balls vs Arunachal Pradesh

Gujarat opener Urvil Patel created history by scoring a 41-ball hundred against Arunachal Pradesh during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023-24.

Replying to Arunachal’s first-innings total of 159 runs, Urvil led the Gujarat batting lineup to successfully chase down the target in just 13 overs.

Urvil’s blistering knock, which included nine fours and seven sixes, earned him the Player of the Match award.

2. Yusuf Pathan – 40 balls vs Maharashtra

One of India’s biggest power hitters of the 21st century, Yusuf Pathan found his name in record books when he completed a 40-ball ton for Baroda against Maharashtra in 2010.

Yusuf’s mind-boggling knock came on 16th February 2010. Chasing 231, Yusuf led his team to a comfortable victory by seven wickets with 81 balls to spare. Pathan’s innings of 108 consisted of eight fours and 10 sixes.

Yusuf was named Player of the Match storming knock.

1. Anmolpreet Singh – 35 balls vs Arunachal Pradesh

Anmolpreet Singh holds the record for scoring the fastest century in Vijay Hazare Trophy with his 35-ball hundred against Arunachal Pradesh in 2024 in Ahmedabad.

Coming in at No. 3, Anmolpreet smashed 115 runs off just 45 balls. Anmolpreet’s knock was an exhibition of power hitting: it consisted of 12 fours and nine towering sixes.

The 26-year-old’s brilliance helped Punjab win the game by nine wickets and he was named Player of the Match for his match-winning effort.
