IPL 2026 first phase schedule to be announced on March 11

With the T20 World Cup 2026 now over, all attention has now shifted to the upcoming IPL season.
The Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season is all set to start from March 28. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will enter the season as the defending champions after winning the title last season.
With less than three weeks left until the IPL begins, the schedule for the upcoming season will be announced today (March 11). The schedule was expected to be announced on the day of the T20 World Cup 2026 final, but it did not happen.

The schedule for the first 20 days of the IPL 2026 season will be announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on March 11.
According to reports, the BCCI planned to announce the schedule in two phases as assembly elections are set to take place in many states during this period.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Saikia said, “Keeping in mind the election dates in some states, we will announce the schedule for the first 20 days of IPL, and the schedule for the rest of the tournament will be announced later.”
Elections in Assam, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala are expected to be held during this window. Hence, the board will have to adopt a flexible approach in finalizing venues and dates for matches. The Election Commission has not announced the election dates yet.
IPL 2026 is likely to begin with the first match between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings in Bengaluru.
