Lendl Simmons' Florida Hurricanes to face Chicago Raiders in Mayor’s New World T20

Florida Hurricanes will face Chicago Raiders in the final of Mayor’s New World T20.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida–16 November 2025: Lendl Simmons led the Florida Hurricanes to the final of the Mayor’s New World T20 with a thumping seven-wicket victory over the New York Cavaliers. Their quest for glory now takes them to a title showdown against the Chicago Raiders, who topped the points table to reach the tournament’s final.

Hurricanes displayed a sublime bowling effort, restricting New York to just 105 runs in 19.5 overs after Simmons chose to bowl first in the semifinal. Sheldon Cottrell and Rayad Emrit notched up three wickets each, while Junaid Siddiqui (20) hit the most runs for New York.

Cottrell drew first blood in the contest as he dismissed the opposition skipper, Dwayne Smith, for a second-ball duck . He went on to bowl a wicket maiden to start off the proceedings. The hurricanes picked up wickets at regular intervals with an ideal change in length and pace. Suleiman Benn, who made a comeback into the side, finished with excellent figures of 2 for 14.

Junaid’s (20 not out) resistance with the bat allowed the Cavelliers to reach the triple figures. Meanwhile, Tanmay Mishra also scored 17 runs, and Chadwick Walton hit 15 runs to contribute to the total.

Chasing a small target for the final, the Hurricanes experienced an early jolt as Baltej Singh provided two early breakthroughs. However, the Hurricanes -with a solid half-century partnership between Angelo Perera (57 not out) & Ian Dev (38) reached a comfortable postion for chasing the subdued target. They cruised past the target with 7 wickets to spare and will meet the Chicago Raiders in the grand finale.
