Sharma's Controversial Statements: A Stir in Indian Cricket

With his objectionable remarks, Sharma undeniably caused a stir in Indian cricket, openly discussing confidential selection matters and even alleging that players were receiving injections to expedite their comebacks to the national team.

Sharma's Fallout: Resignation as Chief Selector after TV Sting Operation

During the TV sting, Sharma revealed details about a supposed clash of egos between former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and former Indian captain Virat Kohli. Kohli made a surprising decision to step down as the captain of the Indian cricket team in the shortest format of the game while Ganguly was in charge. Following Kohli's departure, veteran Indian opener Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy role across all formats.

As a result of the undercover TV sting operation, Sharma's position as the chief selector became untenable. According to a report from news agency ANI, BCCI secretary Jay Shah accepted Sharma's resignation. His second tenure as the chairman of selectors lasted less than two months.
