Former India fast bowler announces retirement from First Class and test cricket

The former express fast bowler represented India in nine test matches.
Jharkhand pacer Varun Aaron has announced his retirement from First Class (FC) and test cricket. Aaron has decided to continue playing white-ball cricket, but decided to put an end to his red-ball game. Varun Aaron is currently playing in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 for Jharkhand. Aaron is part of Jharkhand playing XI against Rajasthan in the final league round fixture.
Known for his extreme pace, Varun Aaron is an international player and has played nine test matches and nine ODI matches for Indian team. Varun Aaron made his international debut for India against England in an ODI game at Wankhede Stadium in 2011. Aaron then went on to play his first test against West Indies at the same venue in November 2011.

Varun Aaron decided to put an end to his FC and test career in front of his family at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur. While announcing his big decision, Varun Aaron said, “This might be my last game in front of my family and the people of Jamshedpur, because we don’t often play white-ball games here [Keenan Stadium]. I had started my career here, so this is quite emotional for me.”
Varun Aaron also revealed his future plan, he informed that he is part of a talent hunt program at MRF Pace Academy. Aaron informed, “I am part of a project called ‘Pace bowler talent hunt’ at MRF. We will be working with young fast bowlers from around India. Approximately 1500 bowlers have taken part in this. We are travelling around the country looking for talent and 20 boys will be chosen for further training..”
Varun Aaron made his FC debut inagainst Assam in 2010. He has so far played 65 FC games and picked up 168 wickets. Aaron picked up 18 wickets in nine test matches he played for India and 11 wickets in nine ODI games. Aaron had a terrific Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign for Jharkhand in 2023-24. Aaron was renowned for his extreme pace during his playing career.
