The first SL vs IND Test will start on August 15.

The 1st Test between Sri Lanka and India is just a few days away. This is the first time since 2017 that India are on a tour of Sri Lanka for a Test series. A few decades ago, the two of them frequently faced each other.

However, in the last decade, these two teams have faced each other only three times in Test cricket. That is why the upcoming series has already attracted the attention of the cricketing world. The 1st Test is scheduled to begin on August 15 (Saturday) at Galle International Stadium.

It will be followed by the second test at Sinhalese Sports Club, starting on August 23 (Sunday). India have not lost a Test series against Sri Lanka since 2008, and Shubman Gill and Co. will look to maintain this streak.

Fans are allowed free entry during the two-match Test series

Amid the latest development, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) has made a major move ahead of the start of the Test series. SLC has announced free entry for fans during the matches scheduled to be held in Galle and Colombo.

It will be a fantastic opportunity for cricket fans to enjoy the high-profile match between India and Sri Lanka. During the first test, fans with free entry need to enter through Gate No. 4, whereas during the second test they will be permitted through Gates Nos. 3, 4, 5, and 7.

This decision was taken to boost the Test series, which has failed to attract a large audience in the subcontinent. Free entry will inspire youngsters and families to come and enjoy the action.

The upcoming series is part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. After a 0-2 home series defeat against South Africa, India have slipped to fifth place in the WTC table.

They have 48.15 PCT and 52 points. Sri Lanka are just behind them in 6th spot with 41.67 PCT. Both teams will aim to win the series 2-0, which will help them improve their standings at the WTC table.

When will the first Test between Sri Lanka and India start?

The first SL vs IND clash will start on August 15 (Saturday) at Galle International Stadium in Galle.
