In the chase, New Zealand kept losing wickets from the start. Struggling at 72/5 at one stage, they lost the battle in the first half itself. India dominated the Kiwis thoroughly and bowled them out for 159 runs, with Jasprit Bumrah clinching a four-wicket haul.
By crushing New Zealand in the final, Suryakumar Yadav & Co. became the first team to win three titles in T20 World Cup. Moreover, they became the first host nation to win the tournament and the first team to defend the title.
