Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has found himself in trouble once again. Gautam Gambhir was caught on camera showing 'middle-finger’ to the crowd as they were chanting ‘Dhoni-Kohli’ names to tease him. Gambhir is currently part of Asia Cup 2023 commentary panel. Gambhir has now come out in the open to explain the incident and said he replied to people who were chanting 'anti-India’ slogans.

Gambhir explains about incident

Explaining the incident, Gautam Gambhir said, "Whatever is shown on social media is not always the true picture, as people can show whatever they want to. In the viral video, the truth is that when you raise anti-India’ slogans and chant bad things about my country, India, and say bad things about Kashmir, then anyone will react like this only, and he will not just laugh and ignore these things." Gambhir was found to have reacted to the chants in the viral video.

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir also added, "There were two-three Pakistani people in the crowd who were chanting anti-India slogans and were talking ill about India and Kashmir. My reaction came naturally, as I cannot tolerate anything bad being said about my country. If somebody is personally abusing me, then what do you expect? I walk back smiling. I am not that kind of person; I know how to give it back."

In the video getting viral on Twitter, Gautam Gambhir was seen walking back to the stands when rain interrupted the game between India and Nepal. A few of the fans were heard chanting ‘Dhoni, Kohli,' and then Gautam Gambhir turned back to show his middle-finger towards them. All this was caught on camera, which forced Gambhir to come out and give an explanation about the incident. Gambhir also had his ego tussle with both former Indian captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, often out in the media, and on and off the field.
