Gautam Gambhir takes PR jibe at Indian team, Blames this reason for not winning ICC tournament in long time

Team India have lost 4 out of their last 9 ICC events finals.
The Indian cricket team is struggling in the big ICC events since 2013. It has been 10 years since India touched an ICC title with their hands. India’s former opening batter and 2007 WT20, and 2011 World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir is openly questioning India’s ‘hero worship’ culture for the consistent poor show in the big ICC events.
India suffered a crushing defeat against Australia by 209 runs in the World Test Championship Final at The Oval. India's batters completely surrendered against the Australian pace attack and the Top 4 failed to even score a half-century in both innings. In an interview with News 18 network, Gautam Gambhir made another scathing attack on the Indian teams’ one more ICC trophy loss.
Gautam Gambhir's 'PR' jibe
Former Indian Opener Gautam Gambhir has said, “ Maybe a lot of people won’t say this, but I think I should say it because it’s the truth of the matter and a truth which should come up before the world”.
Targeting individual obsession Gambhir further added, “All the stakeholders of Indian cricket, from broadcasters to the media, ultimately and unfortunately are nothing more than a PR agency at this point. They will showcase only three people all day. If you score 50 runs and I score 50 runs, and I am shown on screen all day, the entire audience will think only I am the star and you will be called an underrated player”. Gambhir has won two ICC events with Indian cricket team in 2007 and 2013.
Explaining his point further Gambhir talked about the role of media and broadcasters in team sport. Gambhir said, “Who makes a player underrated? It’s the broadcasters themselves and social media does it… If they talk about my performance all day and don’t mention yours at all, you will become underrated automatically… and the biggest truth is that we haven’t won an ICC tournament in such a long because we are obsessed with individuals”. Gambhir had been critical of Indian fans and the media’s approach to making a player big. India lost 4 finals in the last 9 ICC tournaments.
