The team management will now have to explore alternative options from the existing squad, with Lungi Ngidi and Wiaan Mulder being potential candidates to fill the void left by Coetzee.

While Ngidi and Mulder provide capable alternatives, the absence of Coetzee’s fiery pace and ability to trouble batsmen will undoubtedly be felt. Proteas may also consider the option of bringing in spinner Keshav Maharaj, who was not selected for the first test but could add a different dimension to the bowling attack.
