Glenn Maxwell got injured in the game against Afghanistan and missed Bangladesh tie.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is almost at its end. Australia will be playing against South Africa in the second semi-final game at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Australian camp have good news ahead of their much-anticipated clash in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Australian skipper Pat Cummins informed in the press conference that all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is fit to play the game against South Africa.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell suffered cramps against Afghanistan when he played the best ODI knock at Wankhede Stadium. Maxwell suffered cramps during his 201-run knock and took several breaks. Glenn Maxwell missed Australia’s final league game against Bangladesh at MCA Stadium in Pune. There were reports that Maxwell might also miss the semi-finals game against South Africa as well.

Pat Cummins confirms Glenn Maxwell's participation

Australia captain Pat Cummins informed in the press conference that Maxwell is all clear and he is all good. Pat Cummins said, “Yeah, so Maxi’s (Glenn Maxwell) all clear. Yeah, just precautionary so still a little bit sore yesterday, and yeah, we get scans a lot of time just to make sure that if there is something there, we know what we are dealing with and fortunately, he came back all sweet, so he’s all fine.” 

Glenn Maxwell played one of a lifetime innings against Afghanistan and said that the innings will also make an impact on their campaign for the remaining part. Cummins added, “For Sure, Any moment like that…  I think in particular Maxwell’s knock when we were right up against it, the game was over. But still one of the boys stood up to find a way to win. As a team, you grow extra legs because you can feel like you can win from any situation.” 

Australia have done magnificent job so far in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and won 7 out of their 9 league games. Australia finished third in the points table, with South Africa finishing at second place in the table. Australia and South Africa last played in a World Cup semi-finals against each other in 2007, when Australia decimated South Africa by 7 wickets. The World Cup 2023 final will be played in Ahmedabad on 19th November.
