Glenn Maxwell smashed the fastest century in World Cup history.

It has been a record-breaking day for Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, in the ongoing match No. 24 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Netherlands. They have played like the five-time world champions and thrashed the opposition completely. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, and Australian batters made mockery of the bowlers with fours and sixes.

David Warner started the innings, and smashed his sixth hundred in the World Cup, and broke a number of records. But Australia had a brilliant finish only because of Glenn Maxwell. The superstar did what he is known for and smashed the fastest hundred in World Cup history. He broke the record of Aiden Markram, who recently smashed a 49-ball ton against Sri Lanka at the same venue.

Australia finished with a massive total of 399/8 in the first innings. Glenn Maxwell reached his hundred with three consecutive sixes off Bas de Leede. He completed his century with just 40 balls, which is nine balls faster than the previous best. But after reaching the three figures, Maxwell had a different celebration. He was pumped up after his hundred and made a "baby celebration."

Notably, he and his wife were blessed with a baby boy last month on September 15th, and Australian superstar dedicated his ton to his one-month-old baby. He got out after scoring 106 off just 44 balls, with nine boundaries and eight sixes. Earlier, Warner scored 104 off 93 balls, with 11 fours and three sixes.

Steve Smith (71 off 68) and Marnus Labuschagne (62 off 47) also made significant contributions with their half-centuries. Unfortunately, it was not a good day for Netherlands' bowlers. Bas de Leede went for 115 runs for two wickets in his ten overs and registered the most expensive spells in ODI history. It is a must-win game for Australia, and they will look to win by a big margin.
