Mukesh Kumar picked up 2 wickets in the first innings of the 2nd Test at Queens Park Oval.

Man from Bihar's Gopalganj made it to India's elite list of Test cricketers via Bengal. Mukesh Kumar made his test debut for Team India in 2nd Test against West Indies at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago. Mukesh Kumar made the opportunity as he picked up 2 wickets in the first innings of the game.

He broke the developing partnership between Kirk Mckenzie and got him caught behind for 32. Mukesh expressed a special feeling when he celebrated his first ever test wicket Virat Kohli. Mukesh's breakthrough made India grip the game tightly in their hand and restricted West Indies in just 255.

Talking about his maiden test wicket celebration, Mukesh Kumar said, "When I got the wicket, Virat bhaiya ran up and hugged me. I was in a different world. The man I have watched all these years on TV and looked up to is hugging you. It felt great."

Mukesh Kumar was over the moon after his maiden test wicket. Along with Mohammed Siraj he troubled West Indies batting order. Mohammed Siraj picked up 5 wickets in the first innings. Mukesh ended up with 2 wickets in his maiden test inning as bowler. After the inning, Mukesh Kumar had a chat with Mohammed Siraj for BCCI.tv.

It was a special feeling for Mukesh Kumar when he got the Indian test cap. Mukesh said, "When I came to know that I will be playing, I was shocked and actually completely zoned out. Whether I play or not, I am always prepared, so I went to attend the team meeting, keeping in mind that I need to follow my process. But there was some gut feel that I will play. So when it's morning over here, its evening in India. So by evening, when I reached hotel, spoke to mom that's a special feeling that 'maa main desh k liye khel rahan hun (Mom I am playing for my country). All my relatives and all those supported me from start are happy."
