WPL 2026: Star pacer RULED OUT in a massive blow to Gujarat Giants; replacement announced

Gujarat Giants have managed just two wins out of their five games so far in the ongoing WPL 2026.
Gujarat Giants (GG) Women have been the worst performers in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 so far. The Ashleigh Gardner & Co. have won two games and lost three out of five encounters so far in the tournament.
With four points, they languish at the last position in the WPL 2026 points table. They made a wonderful start to the tournament with back-to-back victories in the first two games. They crushed UP Warriorz by 10 runs in the opening game and later crushed Delhi Capitals (DC) Women by four runs. In both matches, GG piled up a 200-plus total batting first.
However, they failed to replicate their winning momentum in the next three matches. They lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) Women by seven wickets, before losing two games in a row against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women. Gujarat are scheduled to clash with UP Warriorz in their next match of WPL 2026 on January 22 (Thursday).
Gujarat Giants rope in Jintimani Kalita as replacement for injured Titas Sadhu
Ahead of their next match, Giants have suffered a big blow as their pacer Titas Sadhu has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to an injury. The right-arm medium pacer did not feature in any of the five games of GG in WPL 2026.
Moreover, Giants have roped in Jintimani Kalita as a replacement for Sadhu. Kalita is a bowling all-rounder who has earlier represented MI Women. She has been signed for a price of INR 10 lakh. The 22-year-old has played 13 matches in the WPL so far.
Kalita, an uncapped player, accounts for six runs and one wicket in her WPL career. She was part of MI Women till the 2025 edition. In the WPL 2026 mega auction, she went unsold at her base price of INR 10 lakh.
