"Everything seems to have fallen apart.." Harbhajan Singh raises questions over India's poor recent form under Gautam Gambhir

India have managed to win just one of their last eight test matches under head coach Gautam Gambhir.
India‘s shambolic performances in recent months have raised eyebrows across the nation. The Indian team surrendered in Sydney on Sunday, January 5, allowing Australia to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) for the first time since 2015.
Earlier in October, India suffered their first-ever test series whitewash at home in a series consisting of two or more games against New Zealand.
Batting has been a major concern for the Asian giants, with key players like skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli struggling for form. The Indian batting lineup failed repeatedly during the Australia series, putting additional pressure on the bowlers to restrict Australia to low scores.
Jasprit Bumrah has been the only consistent performer for India starring with 32 wickets in Australia at an average of 13.
Following conclusion of the series, legendary Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has now raised questions on India’s sudden dip in form. Harbhajan has compared India’s recent form to their form in June under ex-head coach Rahul Dravid.

Speaking on his YouTube channel after India’s defeat in the BGT 2024-25, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh remarked that everything seemed to be on track when Rahul Dravid was the coach. However, he questioned what went wrong with the team all of a sudden.
He said, “Everything was fine till Rahul Dravid was there. India won the World Cup, and everything was fine. But what happened suddenly? In the past six months, we lost to Sri Lanka, a series whitewash against New Zealand, and now a 3-1 defeat in Australia. Everything seems to have fallen apart,“
India will next host England in a limited-overs series starting on January 22 before they fly Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy in February-March. Their next test assignment is scheduled for June, when they will tour England for a five-match test series.
