Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin are considered to be two of the greatest off-spinners from India.
Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin are among the best off-spinners India have ever produced. The two were outstanding game changers for the team and could pick up wickets against the flow of play.
Ashwin rose to prominence during the Turbanator’s latter years. Rumours of a schism between the two have circulated on the internet for years. Both played for India in a few games together and were part of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning squad as well.
Harbhajan Singh ended his career in 2016 with 417 wickets in 103 tests and 269 wickets in 236 ODIs, and 25 wickets in 28 T20Is. Ashwin, on the other hand, took 537 wickets in 106 tests and 156 wickets in 116 ODIs. He also had 72 wickets in 65 T20Is for India.
“Do you think I am jealous of you? – Harbhajan Singh to Ravichandran Ashwin

As a result, it is not surprising that Ashwin addressed the elephant in the room when he sat down for an open conversation with the former India spinner. Some even claim that Harbhajan is jealous of Ashwin’s achievements for the Indian team, considering the latter is also an off-spinner, by title.
Their conversation effectively put an end to the perceived tension between the two.
“This whole jealousy bit—before I allow you to answer that, let me clarify something. People look at everything from their perspective. For example, if they are passing a comment on me, they believe that others would see the world through their eyes. Their comments that you (Harbhajan) are jealous of this person who is interviewing you today (Ashwin), what would that be about, Bhajji pa?” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
After hearing what Ashwin had to say, Harbhajan put the ball back into the Tamil Nadu spinner’s court, asking if he appeared to be jealous of his own teammate.
“Do you think I am jealous of you? You are sitting with me today, and we have spoken at length. Do you think I am that kind of person?” asked Harbhajan.
Ashwin responded to Harbhajan’s counter-question with a fascinating statement, claiming that even if he felt jealous of him, the sentiment was legitimate. He stated that there is nothing wrong with being jealous, and he believes it is a natural human feeling.
“Even if you were jealous at one point in time, I think it’s justified. That is my point, and I will never take it wrong because we are all human. Naturally, it is bound to be like that. Some people believe I retired because Washington Sundar is in the thick of things. All of this is the perspective of others,” he added.
