Harbhajan was part of Mumbai Indians (MI) while Sreesanth was part of Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in IPL 2008. After a match between both sides, Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth on the field for his aggressive behaviour. It emerged as one of the first and biggest controversies in the tournament.
Harbhajan was also banned from the entire season after the incident. Over the years, the former Indian spinner has apologised for the incident on public platforms. He has also apologised to Sreesanth over the matter multiple times.

During a chat with former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on the latter’s YouTube show Kutti Stories, Harbhajan revealed a shocking incident with Sreesanth’s daughter. He said that she refused to talk to him years after the incident.
“What hurt me even more, years later, was when I met his daughter. I was talking to her with a lot of love, and she said, ‘I don’t want to talk to you. You hit my father.’ My heart was shattered, and I was on the verge of tears,” he said.
“I kept asking myself — what kind of impression have I left on her? She must be thinking of me in a poor light, right? She sees me as the guy who hit her father. I felt so bad. I still apologise to his daughter, knowing I can’t undo what happened,” he added.
“I just hope that when she grows up, she doesn’t see me in the same light. I hope she sees that her uncle is someone who will always be there for her and support her in any way he can. That’s why I want to remove that chapter,” Harbhajan further said.
Meanwhile, Harbhajan is currently busy with World Championship of Legends 2025. He is part of India Champions team in the tournament. Their first match of the season against Pakistan Champions was cancelled after many players, including Harbhajan himself, pulled out of the game.
