Harbhajan Singh slapped Sreesanth during IPL 2008.

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has been one of the finest players to have played the game of cricket. The off-spinner made his presence felt for the national side in all three formats of the game, picking crucial wickets in crucial games.

Harbhajan Singh delivered many memorable moments in his career as he helped India win many important games. He also played a major role in the team winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

While his career was celebrated by many fans, one of the highlights of his career was the fight that he had with his own Indian teammate S Sreesanth. The incident happened during a match between Kings XI Punjab ( now Punjab Kings) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

After Punjab registered a brilliant win over Mumbai, Harbhajan Singh hogged the headlines when he slapped Sreesanth during the post-match handshake ceremony. Things looked serious as the fast bowler was then seen crying alone, with his teammates consoling him.

The consequences of the slap were serious for Harbhajan Singh. The premier off-spinner was banned for the remainder of the season. Although he offered an apology to the pacer, the incident is still fresh in the minds of many.

The slap-gate saga has now come into the notice yet again. Former chairman of the IPL Lalit Modi revealed an unseen video of the incident during a conversation with Michael Clarke on his podcast Beyond 23 Cricket podcast.

Revealing the video, Lalit Modi said: “It happened. Absolutely. And I’ll tell you what happened,” Modi told Clarke when asked about the altercation. “One of my security cameras was on because I was walking onto the field, and it caught the moment. As players were exchanging handshakes, Bhajji just looked at Sreesanth, said something, and gave him a backhander.
