Hardik Pandya has been out of action after getting injured during Asia Cup 2025.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is recovering from a quadriceps injury that he sustained during Asia Cup 2025 last month. The incident occurred during Indian Cricket Team’s Super Four clash against Sri Lanka during the tournament, where Pandya could only bowl one over and had to leave the match midway. As a result, he was also ruled out of Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan on September 28, which India won by five wickets.

Due to the injury, he was also unavailable for the ongoing white-ball series against Australia. However, according to the latest reports in The Times of India, Pandya has commenced his rehabilitation at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The Indian all-rounder will undergo a four-month rehabilitation for his injury at the BCCI facility.

The reports also revealed that Pandya checked in at the CoE last week but took a leave for a few days for Diwali festival and resumed his rehabilitation on Wednesday, October 22. Moreover, he will not need any surgery for his quadriceps injury as the initial reports did not raise any major concerns.

The Indian all-rounder is highly expected to return for the home series against South Africa next month after completing his four-month rehabilitation, according to the latest reports. South Africa will tour India for a multi-format series next month, which includes two tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is.

The campaign will commence with the two-match test series on November 14. The first ODI of the three-match series will take place on November 30, and Pandya is expected to be back to the Indian Cricket Team during that game. After the conclusion of ODI series with the final game on December 6, the five T20I games will be played from December 9 to 19.

Meanwhile, during the pre-match press conference ahead of second Australia vs India ODI in Adelaide, India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak noted that Pandya’s absence in the series was a big loss for India.

“Someone like Hardik is always a big loss. But if we look at the positive side, Nitish is getting some game time and we’re trying to groom him. Every team needs an all-rounder, and we’re trying to develop him in that role. So it’s good preparation in that way. But yes, any team would miss a player like Hardik,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pandya gave a decent performance during Asia Cup 2025 last month, hitting 48 runs in four innings across six games and clinching four wickets. In his absence from the Australia tour, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was included into the squad and also made his ODI debut in the Perth game.
