Hardik Pandya sustained an injury during India’s Super Four clash against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2025.
India premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya sat out the final of Asia Cup 2025 due to an injury, and now might miss the upcoming tour of Australia in November. India are set to fly Down Under for three ODIs and five T20Is.
Hardik Pandya bowled just one over against Sri Lanka in the Super Four game ahead of the final, and left the field after feeling discomfort at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He did not return for the remainder of the match and missed the subsequent contest against Pakistan.
It is very unlikely that Hardik will be ready for the full Australia tour, which starts on October 19 at the Optus Stadium in Perth, due to a left quadriceps injury.
BCCI medical team to issue clarification on Hardik Pandya’s injury; might play T20Is on Australia tour
The all-rounder has been told to take four weeks off following an injury sustained against Sri Lanka, according to a report in Dainik Jagran. During commentary for the Asia Cup final, former Indian coach Ravi Shastri provided information, stating that Hardik has a quadriceps (front thigh muscle) injury.
Hardik would still miss the forthcoming three-match ODI series, which might also be the comeback of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who both announced their retirements from test cricket earlier this year, even if he recovers more quickly than anticipated.
Only time will tell if Hardik is able to recuperate in time for the five-match T20I series, which kicks off on October 29 at the Manuka Oval in Hobart.
The BCCI medical team will soon provide a report to the team management, and it will then be apparent regarding Hardik’s future course of action.
Jasprit Bumrah and the all-rounder shared the new ball during the competition. Hardik returned from his six appearances in the 2025 edition of the eight-team event with four wickets and 48 runs with the bat, including his highest of 38 against Bangladesh in the Super Four round.
