Tilak Varma smashed 69* with three fours and four sixes to lead India to Asia Cup 2025 win.
India’s Tilak Varma played a knock of a lifetime as he took Men in Blue to their ninth Asia Cup title, helping his team defeat Pakistan in the final of Asia Cup 2025 tournament in Dubai on Sunday.
India won the toss in Asia Cup 2025 final and opted to bowl first. Pakistan got off to a strong start with Sahibzada Farhan’s 57, combining with Fakhar Zaman 46 for an 84-run opening stand. However, from a commanding 113/1, they collapsed to 146 all out.
Kuldeep Yadav was the star with 4/30, including three wickets in a single over, while Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each.
India’s chase began shakily at 20/3 after early dismissals of Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill. Sanju Samson (24) and Tilak Varma steadied things before Tilak built a crucial 60-run partnership with Shivam Dube. Dube’s 33 off 22 balls, capped with a huge six off Haris Rauf, swung the game in India’s favour.
Tilak Varma held firm to finish unbeaten on 69 from 53 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes. Rinku Singh sealed the win with the final boundary as India beat Pakistan by five wickets to claim their ninth Asia Cup title.
Tilak Varma gets fired up after ‘yeh IPL nahi hai, Mumbai nahi hai’ taunt by Pakistani players

India found themselves in trouble at 25/3 in 5.2 overs during their chase of 147 against Pakistan in the final on Sunday. Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson were just beginning to steady the innings when an exchange took place.
Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Haris, looking to exploit the pressure and force a mistake from Tilak, attempted to unsettle him with a taunt directed at both the young batter and his IPL side, the Mumbai Indians.
“Yeh Mumbai nahi hai. Yeh IPL nahi hai. (This is not Mumbai (Indians), and this is not the IPL),” Haris chirped.
The 22-year-old Tilak, however, maintained composure and concentrated on reviving the innings by switching up the strike and avoiding needless danger. In the end, the patient strategy paid off as he scored a half-century that will never be forgotten and saw off the chase in the last over, which saw India win by five wickets.
