England white-ball captain Harry Brook to skip all franchise T20 leagues

Harry Brook was recently named as England’s white-ball captain.
Days after being appointed as England’s new white-ball captain, Harry Brook has decided to skip all franchise T20 leagues in near future to focus on his captaincy for the national side. On Monday, April 7, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) appointed Brook as the new skipper for England in ODIs and T20Is.
He took the leadership reins from Jos Buttler, who resigned from the role post England’s group-stage exit at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The 26-year-old Brook has been a regular member of England across all three formats for the last few years.
Franchise cricket can take a step back for a while: Harry Brook
During a chat with the reporters, the right-handed batsman said that he will not participate in any franchise T20 leagues in future. He also added that he wants to focus on playing for England at the moment.
“England is the way forward for me and franchise cricket can almost take a step back for a little while. I enjoy playing cricket for England more than anything else, so to lose a little bit of money here and there – I’d take that any day to play for England,” Brook was quoted as saying by BBC.
Interestingly, Harry Brook pointed out that he will play in England’s T20 franchise league, The Hundred, for his team Northern Supercharges. Notably, he pulled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 this year and faces a ban of two years from the league.
Meanwhile, Harry Brook’s first series as England’s full-time white-ball captain will be against the West Indies. England will host the West Indies for three ODIs and as many T20Is starting from 29 May, 2025.
