Former Indian middle-order batsman Ajay Jadeja registered an impressive ton against Zimbabwe in Cuttack in 1998. Batting first, Jadeja’s unbeaten 116-run knock pushed India to 301/3.
Ajay’s innings included six fours and two sixes. He added 275 runs with Mohammad Azharuddin for the fourth wicket. India won the game by 32 runs.
4. Sachin Tendulkar – 127* vs Kenya, 1996
Sachin Tendulkar starred for India in their 1996 World Cup group-stage match against Kenya in Cuttack.
Chasing a 200-run target, Sachin dominated and scored an unbeaten 127 off 138 balls to guide India to a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
His innings, which included 15 fours and a six, helped him earn the Player of the Match award.
3. MS Dhoni – 134 vs England, 2017
The India vs England 2017 ODI match at Cuttack is one of the most memorable games for the Indian fans due centuries from two stalwarts at the end of their careers.
MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh rolled back the years during their 256-run stand for the fourth wicket. Dhoni whacked 134 runs off 122 balls with 10 fours and six sixes.
The hosts eventually won the nail-biting game by 15 runs.
2. Yuvraj Singh – 150 vs England, 2017
Yuvraj Singh was India’s top-scorer in the second ODI of England’s tour of India in 2017, which was played at the Barabati Stadium.
Coming in at No. 4, the southpaw smashed 150 runs off 127 balls, including 21 fours and three sixes, helping India post 381/6. What makes this innings special is the fact that it came during Yuvraj’s comeback to the Indian ODI team. India won the game by 15 runs.
1. Mohammad Azharuddin – 153* vs Zimbabwe, 1998
Mohammad Azharuddin holds the record for the highest individual ODI score at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, for his unbeaten 153-run knock in 1998 against Zimbabwe. Azharuddin’s excellent century came in the fifth match of the 1998 Triangular series, which also involved Australia.
Batting first, Azharuddin’s 153* propelled India to 301/3. His impactful knock, which came in 150 balls, consisted of 17 fours and a six. Zimbabwe managed 269 runs in the chase and India won by 32 runs. Azharuddin was duly named the Player of the Match.
