Opener Ben Duckett was at his best in England’s first match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where they faced Australia at Karachi’s National Stadium. Ducket blasted 165 off 143 deliveries in his innings, which included 17 fours and three sixes. His knock of 165 runs is also the highest individual score by any batter in ICC Champions Trophy history. Also, England set the highest total in ICC Champions Trophy history in this match, scoring 351/8.
4. Robin Smith – 167* vs Australia, Birmingham, 1993
Robin Smith’s unbeaten 167-run knock against Australia in Birmingham in 1993 is often forgotten when talking about great England knocks.
Smith anchored the innings, scoring 167 off 163 balls to help England reach 277/5 in the 55-over ODI.
Thanks to a brilliant century by Mark Waugh, Australia won the game by six wickets.
3. Alex Hales – 171 vs Pakistan, Nottingham, 2016
Alex Hales was at his best during the third ODI of Pakistan’s tour of England 2016 in Nottingham.
Opening the innings, Hales toyed with Pakistan’s bowling attack smashing 171 off 122 balls with the help of 22 fours and four sixes.
Hales added 248 runs with Joe Root to propel England to a massive total of 444/3. The hosts won the game by 169 runs.
2. Jason Roy – 180 vs Australia, Melbourne, 2018
England opener Jason Roy slammed a 180-run knock against Australia in Melbourne in 2018.
Chasing 305, Jason Roy light up the MCG crowd scoring 180 off 151 balls, including 15 fours and five sixes. He added 221 runs with Joe Root for the third wicket, putting the visitors in control.
England won the game by five wickets and Roy was named Player of the Match for his efforts.
1. Ben Stokes – 182 vs New Zealand, The Oval, 2023
All-rounder Ben Stokes holds the record for the highest individual score by an England batsman in ODI cricket with his 182-run knock at the Oval in 2023.
After losing two early wickets for just 13 runs, Ben Stokes led the England innings scoring 182 off 124 balls, hitting 15 fours and nine sixes. He added 199 runs with Dawid Malan to set up England’s total of 368.
The hosts won the game by 181 runs.
